PSI Social Media Policy

This policy outlines what you can expect from the PSI in our engagement through our social media channels.

The PSI accounts on X, LinkedIn and YouTube are used to communicate, promote and distribute information relating to the work of the PSI – the pharmacy regulator. We have responsibility for protecting the health and safety of the public by regulating pharmacists and pharmacies in Ireland.

Our social media accounts are monitored primarily during business hours, Monday to Friday. We do not use our social media channels to manage general or urgent queries. Please use the contact us form on our website so we can direct your query to the correct department.  Concerns and complaints about a pharmacist or pharmacy should be made through our online contact form.

We will share information on X and LinkedIn about:

  • Updates available on our website and through our newsletter
  • PSI news and press releases
  • PSI reports and publications
  • Updates on PSI guidelines and guidance
  • Invitations to engage with us, including public consultations

You can sign-up separately to receive the PSI newsletter for regular pharmacy practice updates, PSI news and updates.

  • We will remove any offensive or inappropriate comments. These include defamatory, abusive or discriminatory comments and privacy or data infringements.
  • People who repeatedly post offensive or inappropriate comments will be blocked.
  • Information relating to ongoing PSI complaints and fitness to practise inquires including personal data about complainants or PSI registrants is not appropriate.
  • Comments or opinions made by followers on our social media channels do not represent the views of the PSI.

Replying on social media

We appreciate all feedback. However, we may not be able to reply individually to all the messages we receive on our social media channels. Where appropriate, we will engage in topical conversations relevant to our core work and responsibilities.

Please note that the PSI does not give personal health advice. If you have any concerns about your health or the health of someone in your care, then you should contact a healthcare professional. Some general topics about pharmacy care can be found on our website.
