Climate Action Roadmap
The Irish Government’s Climate Action Mandate sets out objectives for public bodies, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 51% in 2030 and improvement in energy efficiency to 50% by 2030.
In order to deliver on the mandate we developed our Climate Action Roadmap, which demonstrates ongoing commitment to sustainability and emissions reduction, as well as ensuring that we, as a public sector body, lead by example on climate action activities. When developing our Roadmap, we established our baseline to measure progress towards the Mandate’s targets, drawing from our reporting data to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), an audit of our existing processes, and an organisation-wide staff engagement workshop. This baseline, along with the PSI’s progress towards our climate action objectives to date, was used to calculate our ‘gaps to target’ and identify opportunities for further action.
Our Roadmap is updated annually; the latest Roadmap for 2025 analyses our 2024 emissions data and reports on the ongoing implementation of actions already committed to, how we have progressed towards our targets by the end of 2024, and captures new mandated actions.
Environmental Policy
In 2025 we set out in a new Environmental policy:
- our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability and
- clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and guiding principles for environmental management within the organisation.
