Following a hearing of the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) into a complaint made against Mr. Edward Malone, MPSI (Reg. No 6986), the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (the “Council”) considered the report of the PCC on 30 April 2026 and decided to cancel Mr. Malone’s registration pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(iv) of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (the "Act"). The Council further decided that Mr. Malone be prohibited, for a period of 5 years from applying for restoration to the PSI Register pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(v) of the Act, and to publish the Report of the PCC in the public interest, with the names or identifiers of any individuals other than the Registrant, and the retail pharmacy business to be redacted.

The Council's decision was confirmed by the High Court on 29 July 2026 pursuant to section 52 of the Act.

Under sections 57(1)(a) and 57(1)(g) of the Act respectively, the Council is obliged to give public notice of the sanctions of cancellation and prohibition of a registrant’s registration.
