In the matter of Part 6 of the Pharmacy Act 2007

John O’Meara, MPSI (Registration No. 7210)

Following a hearing of the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) into a complaint made against Mr. John O’Meara MPSI (Reg No 7210), the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland considered the report of the PCC on 28 April 2022, and decided to cancel Mr O’Meara’s registration pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(iv) of the Pharmacy Act 2007. The Council further decided that Mr. O’Meara be prohibited, for a period of 15 years, commencing on the date of any confirmation of this decision, from applying for restoration to the PSI Register pursuant to Section 48(1)(b)(v) of the Act, and to publish the Report and Inquiry Transcript of the PCC in full in the public interest in accordance with section 57(2) of the Act. The decision of the Council was confirmed by Order of the High Court dated 07 September 2022. 

Under section 57(1)(a) of the Act, the Council is obliged to give public notice of the sanction of cancellation and under section 57(1)(g) the Council is obliged to give public notice of the sanction of prohibition for a specified period on restoration to the registter.
