Ms Anne Gannon

Following a hearing of the Professional Conduct Committee into a complaint made against Ms Anne Gannon MPSI, the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (the “Council”) considered the report of the Committee on 24 April 2025 and decided to censure the pharmacist pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(i) of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (“the Act”) and to impose conditions pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(ii) of the Act, to the registrant’s registration.

Pursuant to section 57(1) of the Pharmacy Act 2007, the Council is obliged to give public notice of the sanction of the imposition of conditions on a registrant’s registration.

The conditions are outlined below.

 

Conditions attached to the registration of the pharmacist

(i) The Registrant enter into a mentorship programme with a mentor to be agreed in advance with the Registrar of the PSI for a period of two years. The mentorship programme is to focus on improving the deficits in the Registrant's practice as per the findings made by the Committee.

(ii) The Registrant engage a suitable expert pharmacist to be agreed in advance with the Registrar of the PSI to conduct one unannounced audit inspection at Gannon's Pharmacy, Earl Street, Longford Town, County Longford, known as "the Pharmacy", such audit to be conducted on a date after the conclusion of the 24 month period referred to at (iii) below and no later than one month after the expiry of the said 24 month period. The expert will provide a report to the Registrar of the PSI within one month of such audit being carried out.

(iii) The Registrant does not act as a superintendent pharmacist in the Pharmacy for a period of not less than 24 months and appoints a new superintendent pharmacist, to be agreed in advance with the Registrar, for the pharmacy for that period of

time ("the 24 month period"). During the 24 month period, the appointed superintendent pharmacist shall work in the Pharmacy on a minimum of three days per week. The appointed superintendent pharmacist will report to the Registrar of the PSI on a quarterly basis that the pharmacy is operating in compliance with all applicable legislation, guidance and best practices.

(iv) All costs associated with implementing these conditions will be borne by the Registrant.
