A pharmacist (anonymous)

Following a hearing of the Health Committee (the Committee) into a complaint made against a pharmacist which took place on 25 August 2025, the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (the Council) considered the report of the Committee on 20 November 2025 and imposed the sanction of cancellation pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(iv) of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (as amended).

The Council decided that it was in the public interest to give public notice of the sanction of cancellation, while maintaining the respondent’s anonymity. 

The Council considered the issue of publication of the Committee Report and/or transcript pursuant to section 57(2) of the Act and decided that it was not in the public interest to publish the report of the Committee or the transcript of the inquiry.

The Council’s decision was confirmed by the High Court on 2 March 2026.
