In the matter of Part 6 of the Pharmacy Act 2007

Complainant: The Registrar of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (“PSI”)

and

A pharmacist (anonymous)

Following a hearing of the Health Committee into a complaint made against a pharmacist which took place on 8 May 2025, the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (the Council) considered the report of the Health Committee on 2 September 2025 and decided to censure the pharmacist pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(i) of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (the Act) and to impose conditions pursuant to section 48(1)(b)(ii) of the Act.

Under sections 57 of the Act, the Council is obliged to give public notice of the sanction of the attachment of conditions to a registration however the Council decided that the notice be anonymised so as not to identify the pharmacist.

The Council considered the issue of publication of the Committee Report and or/transcript pursuant to section 57(2) of the Act and decided that it was not in the public interest to publish the report of the Health Committee or the transcript of the Inquiry.

The Council’s decision was confirmed by the High Court on 15 December 2025.

Effective Date of censure and conditions: 15 December 2025
