ePortfolio Review Process

Registered pharmacists are required to undertake continuing professional development (CPD). The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (Continuing Professional Development) Rules 2015 (S.I .No. 553 of 2015) underpin the CPD system for pharmacists in Ireland, including the requirement for pharmacists to maintain a record of CPD in an online ePortfolio and participate in ePortfolio Review.

The Irish Institute of Pharmacy (IIOP) manages the ePortfolio Review process. During this process, pharmacists are asked to submit an extract from their ePortfolio to the IIOP for review. 

Initial notification that a pharmacist has been selected for ePortfolio Review is sent by the PSI in summer to the email address a pharmacist has previously provided to the PSI. This email address can be updated in the PSI Registration Portal. Pharmacists can then also expect to receive further information by email directly from the IIOP. 

Pharmacists must ensure they have provided their current email address to the IIOP. This can be updated within the 'My Profile' section when logged into the IIOP website. The IIOP will advise pharmacists about how they can submit their extracts, what type of extracts are sought for the review, and when the submission should be made. The IIOP will also highlight the supports and tools that are available to assist pharmacists preparing to submit extracts from their ePortfolio.
