PSI Pharmacist Panel

The Pharmacist Panel provides us with a forum to engage with pharmacists from different roles and backgrounds to inform our work.

About the Pharmacist Panel

The PSI regularly engages with registered pharmacists as part of our regulatory work, including through surveys, public consultations and events. We established the PSI Pharmacist Panel in 2023 with the purpose of providing an additional forum to hear from a range of pharmacists from a variety of roles and backgrounds across the health and social care system to inform our work.

The panel’s engagement in our work may include input on policy developments, giving input on the PSI’s strategic projects and supporting the safe implementation of new or adapted pharmacy services in Ireland. The initial focus for panel engagement was on the implementation of recommendations from the Expert Taskforce to Support the Expansion of the Role of Pharmacy in Ireland. During 2025, panel members had the opportunity to provide input during workshops on draft Pricing Transparency Guidelines and during the public consultation on materials to support the introduction of the Common Conditions and Contraception Services.

Membership of the Panel

The panel members are pharmacists who are registered with the PSI and who have responded to an expression of interest to participate. We are committed to having a diverse cross-section of pharmacists on the panel, who are representative of the profession, come from a variety of roles and backgrounds, and who have varying years of experience. Membership of the panel will be reviewed every two years.

Members of the panel are invited to engage with the PSI in a variety of ways, such as by taking part in online focus groups or interactive workshops or responding to surveys/emails. Participation in each event is optional. Events are usually held online and there are approximately four meetings or activities for the panel per year. Participation in the panel is voluntary and a member may opt-out at any point.

Our team in Pharmacy Practice, Policy and Engagement are the main contact for the Pharmacist Panel. Email communications@psi.ie for any queries.
